Onward to 1.0 and Mac App Store release

I've been quiet the last few weeks, busy getting things tightened up for a looming 1.0 release on the Mac App Store.

There's going to be two build variants: The Mac App Store version and the direct distribution version, the latter being "trialware" that has limited functionality until you register it. The latest version of that one is up on the website and available for download, version 0.9.1.

Since I last posted we have almost all the art in there, replacing the placeholder SF Icons. Some of the art looks pretty crappy, hey I'm a developer not an illustrator, and I don't really know how to draw a good hand or a good paintbrush. But the more geometric icons looks pretty good IMO, such as the eyedropper.

Also a big change is that the pixel layers are "growable" now, so you can drag something past the edge of the document and it keeps those pixels. This change touched practically everything in the app! It would have been so much easier to design for that from the beginning but hey hindsight is 20/20.

In the interest of getting something out the door and avoiding feature creep, we'll be launching 1.0 without some features one might expect to be present, such as the Paint Bucket tool, and Quickmask. Those will follow on shortly though.

So give the latest 0.9.1 version a try today!
